Georg and Anita Kehrer founded Kehrer AG Metallbau in Allschwil (BL), specializing in the production of mailboxes – a cornerstone of the company’s long-term success story.

Karl Stebler, a former apprentice of Georg Kehrer, founded the company Karl Stebler Metallbau in Bern on April 1st. Their close friendship grew into a strong partnership: they divided sales regions within Switzerland and jointly advanced innovations in mailbox design.

Together, the two companies developed the first mailbox for horizontal mail delivery and later set new standards with the first aluminum mailbox. These pioneering years cemented both firms’ reputations in quality and functionality.

With the introduction of the first conservatories featuring louvered glazing, Karl Stebler strategically expanded his company’s metalworking expertise from metal to glass. The patented system revolutionised s: stebler, defining a new direction for the company’s future.

Karl and Annerös Stebler take over Kehrer Metallbau. Both production sites continue to operate under their original names and logos, while early process optimisations were implemented: the mailbox production in Allschwil and metal construction in Bern.

Karl Stebler Metallbau was renamed Karl Stebler & Co. At the same time, Karl and his son Markus founded Stebler Glashaus AG. From then on, Markus and his wife, Anita, managed the Bern operations, while Karl and Annerös led Kehrer AG in Allschwil.

The full glazing of the FIPOI (Foundation for Buildings for International Organizations) building marked a significant milestone and became the largest contract in the history of Stebler Glashaus AG. In the same year,  the Kehrer and Stebler brands merged to form Kehrer Stebler AG, a decisive step toward a unified future.

With Karl and Annerös retiring, Markus and Anita Stebler are assumed leadership of the entire company.

The locations in Bern and Allschwil were consolidated into a modern production and administration facility directly on the A1 motorway in Oensingen. The move introduced a new brand identity:  "s: stebler" featuring the now-iconic blue and red logo.

s: stebler expanded its sales territory, focusing on border regions, including southern Germany and Liechtenstein. Landmark projects, such as the Landtag building in Vaduz, with its distinctive pitched roof, were successfully completed.

Adding an external member to the Board of Directors strengthens corporate governance, while digital inventory management establishes the basis for modern, forward-looking operations.

With Svenja Lara Stebler joining the Board of Directors, a new generation began – committed, forward-looking, and deeply rooted in the family business.

With its modular parcel compartment system, s: stebler won the Swiss Innovation Award “InnoPrix” from the Baloise Bank SoBa Foundation – recognised for its high versatility and tangible customer benefits.

The establishment of Kehrer Stebler Portugal Unipessoal Lda in Lisbon laid the foundation for the company’s European growth, providing technical support and regional presence.

With the founding of Kehrer Stebler Germany GmbH, s: stebler expanded its presence in the German and international markets. A new era in production began with the introduction of the company’s first robots, marking the start of automated and AI-assisted manufacturing.

The opening of the company’s first international showroom at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin strengthened its position in the German market and unveiled its modernised and repositioned brand identity.
